Export a trip from Garmin Connect

If your trip was recorded on a Garmin watch or GPS device, GPX is the cleanest file to bring into ClearSpot Travel. Use Garmin Connect on the web.

  1. On a computer, sign in to Garmin Connect. connect.garmin.com
  2. Open Activities, then All Activities.
  3. Open the activity you want to replay.
  4. Click the settings gear in the top-right corner.
  5. Choose Export to GPX.
  6. Upload the downloaded .gpx file to ClearSpot Travel.

Import the GPX

Garmin can also export the original FIT file. FIT contains richer sensor data, but ClearSpot Travel currently uses GPX for this workflow. TCX is not used either.

Why this is annoying

Yes, the export is often complicated and tedious. Providers rarely make it easy to take your GPS data out of their app, even though those points are yours. Their procedures also change without much warning.
