Google Maps and Takeout

For current location history, use the on-device Timeline export. Export Google Timeline

1. Prefer Timeline.json from the phone (see the Timeline guide).
2. Old Google Takeout Location History, Semantic Location History, or Records.json files still import if you kept an archive.
3. CSV exports with latitude, longitude and time columns are accepted.

If the file has positions but no dates, we cannot animate it. Export a GPX from Garmin or Strava instead.
